Last year, I went into MAC to get a backup for Patisserie, but I got Modesty instead, because they looked similar. I'm so glad I did, coz I got to try another awesome nude lippie. I'm so into nude lipsticks at the moment.... I just want them all!
MAC Modesty is a Cremesheen lipstick that is described as a Muted Neutral Pink. It's opaque, creamy and never dries out my lips. I've always been a fan of Cremesheen finish, coz it's so low maintenance and doesn't leave your lips easily- even after eating & drinking. Many people say they smell nice, but I don't smell anything...only a faint beeswax-kind-of smell.

Dupe is Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in #215 Totally Toffee (Review & Swatches here). Funny thing was, I googled nude Maybelline lipstick swatches to find a dupe (I had a feeling I'd seen a similar Maybelline lippie somewhere), and then I landed on my own review of Maybelline Totally Toffee where I also mentioned it might be similar to Modesty....haha! I ran up to my room to check if I took it with me....and I did! I couldn't stop grinning after swatching them together.
Not a 100% dupe, but it's almost hard to tell the difference when they worn on the lips. Even their finishes feel almost the same. The only difference is Maybelline Totally Toffee leans a little more towards pink, and MAC Modesty towards terracotta. They're together, but parting ways. For Rs.299, I think the minor difference - that most people wouldn't even be able to detect - is certainly overlook-able.
MAC Modesty Vs MAC Patisserie
Finish: Modesty is Cremesheen, Patisserie is Lustre with shimmer.
Shade: Modesty is described as Muted Neutral Pink. Patisserie is described as Sheer Creamy Neutral Pink. Modesty is more opaque & feels heavier than Patisserie.
MAC Modesty 'Vs' MAC Patisserie
Both nice nude lippies in their own way, but for me, Patisserie is still a winner. If you have a darker skin tone than mine and Patisserie washes you out, do take a look at Modesty.
Phew! I was at this for hours. I kept swatching Modesty & Totally Toffee side-by-side, and then forgetting which one is which!
So, which of the 3 is your ideal nude lippie?
