'Diva' can mean 2 different things- one good, one bad. Good: a woman who's glamorous/a good singer. Bad: a woman who's a 'prima donna'- a spoiled, high maintenance, temperamental, and demanding woman who throws a fit if she doesn't get her way. Mariah Carey, for one, is known for her outrageous 'diva' demands. I read an article in a magazine a long time ago, but forgotten what demands exactly. Here's what I found on the net:
"Mariah Carey is known for her diva behavior. Her diva demands include having a huge entourage, having special people to help her sit if her dress is so gorgeous she doesn't want it to get crushed. Mariah even brings her own toilet roll!
At a Christmas lighting event in London in 2008 Mariah insisted on being surrounded by 20 white kittens and 100 white doves for her appearance with butterfly shaped confetti to be showered on her by the end of her performance."
She also keeps an attendant in her dressing room.....to hand her towels! Then I guess she's both. She earned it, so.....why not, eh?
No white kittens, doves, and towel-handlers, for us lesser mortals. We don't want them, anyway... chi! Says the fox-y lady. Okay, now on to topic of the day- Lotus Herbals Gorgeous Natural Diva kit (Are you also thinking why the 'Natural'?)
The kit contains a base stick, a lipstick & a red nail polish- all for only Rs.499. Here I'm wearing all the products from the kit.
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette & demi (half) lashes.
Concealer, Blush & Bronzer: MAC Studio Finish Concealer & Chromagraphic Pencil, Laura Mercier Undercover Pot, MAC Fleur Power, The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder.
Naturalblend 4-in-1 Swift Make-up, Natural Beige: This is a foundation, concealer, compact, and sunscreen, in a stick. Natural Beige is a tad dark (too orange-ish) for my skin tone (refer to last pic), but it doesn't look too off. I think this shade would suit a lot of darker skin tones too. Coverage is light, and cannot really be built up, I'd say it's not really for blemished skin. But it is perfect for on-the-go because it's convenient to use & blends really quickly without ever looking cakey. Finish is not completely matte, so I do need to powder on top of it, because I have oily/combination skin. *It caused pimples (I realized it was the cause after the 2nd time), so it definitely does not suit my skin, unfortunately. I think it would suit normal to dry skin more.
Pure Colors Moisturizing Lip Color, Shade 612 Rose Red: Really pretty shade this is. It's more pink & only flirting with red. The lipstick itself is really very moisturizing. The texture is quite similar to Maybelline Moisture Extreme lippies, although this one is less slippery/buttery/glossy- which is a good thing for me. With the blotting & re-applying technique, it stays on for a few hours. I thought the beige/gold packaging was going to feel plasticky, but not at all, it's kinda classy & a good change from all the blacks. It does have a very mild indescribable scent.
ColorDew Nail Enamel in 912 Crimson Red: Perfect 'Diva' nail color. It's so red & glossy! The consistency is excellent for a red nail paint- for the first time, my application was perfecto! I think when men think red nail polish on a woman, this is the type. It's very Dita Von Teese. Definitely one of my favorite red nail paints now- perfect for toes too. Acetone, toluene & DBP free.
Swatches: Naturalblend 4-in-1 Swift Make-up Natural Beige, Pure Colors Moisturizing Lip Color Rose Red.
To conclude, the Naturalblend stick didn't work for me, but I like the nail enamel & lipstick a lot. I wish they had included a black or brown Eyeliner Pencil in the kit too. That would have put the 'va' in this 'Diva' kit. Then they can even sell it at the original price- Rs.593, don't you agree?
Prima donna-ish look. My demand ~ 22 white fluffy puppies with hot pink bows on their heads (center) & matching frilly booties, to surround me in my 1st ever 'diva photo shoot'. I'll be wearing a white tutu dress with hot pink shoes and a hot pink headband, of course.
Red Bow Ring ~ Accessorize
Price of Lotus Herbals Gorgeous Natural Diva Collection ~ Rs.499.
My Rating ~ ♥♥♥♥♥ 4/5
