Girl Talk Boys Can Eavesdrop: What's The Worst Gift A BF/Yr Husband Has Ever Given You?

Okay, this is non-makeup slash beauty related post. Somehow, the inner moron in me wants to indulge in a little bit of humor today. Monday humor to beat the blues. Yes, I'm in no mood (right now) to write about pretty things.

What is the worst gift your man (or might I say ex) has ever given you?

I still remember the day I got my worst gift, from a guy I had just started going out with. It was my birthday and it was the first gift he'd ever given me. He presented me with this little box wrapped in....I don't know....some kind of wrapping paper.

My guesses were, well hello....jewelry! Earrings, a heart-shaped pendant, bracelet, a girly key chain.....something shiny! 'I WANNA SEE IT NOW!!!'

But I had to wait till later.

Later came. It was just me, my cousin and a friend.
I ripped the wrapper in seconds. I didn't even bother to look at the box, I just reached inside it to pull out the jewelry...I mean whatever was inside.
.
.
.
.
What's inside the box looked something like this.........

Aaaaaaahhhhh......!!! ^Q^

A swordfish showpiece? A swordfish???!!!
Okay, it didn't have an opened mouth like that, but mine was when I first laid eyes on it.

Personally, I think that if your man knows you at all, he would never (EVER!) gift you something that repulsive.

How about flowers, huh?! (Defined as 'poor people's jewelry' by Karen Walker in Will & Grace =D)  Or, maybe just a single red/pink/pick a damn color! ROSE
Cheap and thoughtful, and will not make us lose their phone numbers (on purpose!)

So, what's your story?
  • What's the worst gift a man has ever given you?
  • And, would you break-up over a bad gift?

SPILL!

  1. Ok, wow, that swordfish was really sad! I can't believe that a guy actually gave you that...

I can't really think of a bad gift that a man has given me, luckily. Most of the time I got chocolates, perfumes. They were sensible enough to get something decent.

But ya, if a guy was stupid enough to get me a swordfish, I would break up with him.

  3. I would never break up with a guy over a present he bought me, it's quite small in the whole scheme of things.

I've never been given a bad present but I know of one girl who was given a fake Coach purse, it didn't even say Coach on it, it said GAOCH.

My aunt's husband is very stingy and she was dropping hints that she wanted a foot massger but she kept saying that her feet hurt and she had horrible corns (hoping he would buy her the massager). What did he buy her? A £5 corn removal kit.

  7. WOW a swordfish? I can't decide whether its funny or sad.

This was not from a bf, but my best guy friend. He gave me a t-shirt that was not my size. I wear a small and the dude gave me an XL. But then I was 15...and 15 y o boys are clueless about girls. But that pissed me off...am I that fat? lol.

  9. still lolling at the GOACH bag!!
well my ex gifted me his cd collection that comprised of the world's most hardcore rock/heavy metal songs. also, he insisted that i listen to them. needless to say, i went temporarily deaf.

  10. oh and i would never break up over a gift. too trivial. if my boyfriend/husband would be so bad at gifting, i would simply tell him to ask me what i want.

  11. Haha Cynthia..
My ex boyfriend got me like this basket of stuff (it was the first gift he ever gave me). It was like an assortment of stuff toys and showpieces and photo frames. Doesnt sound that bad right?
Well, the teddy bears were old and dirty and smelly (like they were 6 years old) and i found similar showpieces in his house (like he had just picked up some stuff from around the house and given them to me)..the last straw was when i saw that the photo frame and 1 teddy bear had his sisters name written on the back..IT WAS ALL USED /OLD STUFF..
    Ugh...

  12. OMG! any form of fish as a gift has to mean he picked it out with his eyes closed - men can be soo clueless at times

Iv not really ever been gifted anything rubbish like that - fortunately

tho a little unfortunate story is that once (ages bak in college) i got given a purfume becoz he knew how much i loved my purfume - only thing was i absolutely hated the scent - dont get me wrong - its no cheapy one and the label is very well known - tho it gave me a migraine and i had to wear it here and there to show him i liked it

    lol great post

  13. @Amina ~ LOL...I guess u had to

    @Mehak~ OMG!That's horrible! LOL

@Rima~ ROFL! Too funny that u actually listened to the songs XD
I know..... "Goach" is too funny. N yes if it's a great guy then it's better to tell him what we like rather than break it off over one bad gift hehe

  15. Lol! That swordfish gift is very funny?:D..I have a funny experience with man's gift, but it's from my father back then when I was still a kid. Everytime my father went outtown,he always gave me this gift:a boy t-shirt.All t-shirts models that he gave me were supposed to be boys, and not girls. The same thing happened to me mum,he gave my mum gifts(dress)with something that my mum described as"has no sense of style at all".So my mum asked my father to stop giving us clothes, and better give us local/traditional foods instead when he went outtown again.
Yea..guess this is men's eternal problems to pick a proper gift to us :D..

  18. Haha...I can't believe he gave you that! So wrong. =\ Gifts don't have to be pricey but they should be thoughtful. I have never broken up with someone over a bad gift but I wouldn't have been against doing so either. =P

  19. How unthoughtful of that guy to gift you a swordFISH!! uugghh!
It could be better off with giving no gift rather than gifting your lover a swordfish! lol

Luckily, I have never had such a bad experience with gifts & my bf is quite good with his choice of gifts ;)

  20. Gawd..a swordfish?? That definitely shows a person's lack of taste. Fortunately I have never had any bad gifting experience with guys. Hub has been always thoughtful with his gifts.

I read all of them & I try my best to reply to each & every one of them [check back in 2-3 days =D] but most times it's physically impossible! Either way, I love to hear from you & really appreciate you taking the time out to share your thoughts <3
